Arcana is a wine bar, restaurant, art space and music venue in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission District. Founded by Naz Khorram, a queer Iranian immigrant, Arcana was created as a place where many of the things they love could exist under one roof: food, natural wine, plants, art, music and community. Naz’s own experience and perspective have helped shape Arcana into a space rooted in openness, creativity and bringing different people together. It was never meant to fit neatly into one category, and over the years it has continued to grow and evolve alongside the artists, staff, friends and neighbors who have shaped it.

The main space, affectionately known as the Greenhouse, is filled with plants, features a large moss installation, and serves as Arcana’s restaurant, natural wine bar and gallery. As the evening moves on, the space often shifts with it. Tables move, the lights get lower, and the room becomes home to live bands, DJs, parties, performances and other gatherings.

Our second room, the Fern Bar, is a smaller, more intimate space overlooking the Greenhouse and centered around a living fern and moss installation. It’s a quieter place to settle in with a glass of wine, host a small gathering, celebrate with friends, or simply step away from some of the energy of the main room.

Arcana regularly collaborates with artists, musicians, chefs, winemakers and other creative people from San Francisco and beyond through exhibitions, dinners, markets, workshops, parties and performances. At its core, Arcana is meant to feel alive: a little unexpected, constantly evolving, and shaped by the people who work here, create here and pass through it.
