THE PERSIANS

We use saffron directly sourced from Khorasan, Iran with cardamom, cinnamon, mint, rose buds and many more ingredients to make our magical blends of Persian tea flavors. Arcana is designed as an environment filled with natural light, plants and warm hospitality you would receive visiting any Persian household. Together we practice slowing down and examine the perfection of our tea, its taste, color, smell and temperature.

THE CHINESE

At Arcana, we dive deep in understanding the meanings of tea drinking. In Chinese culture, tea could be offered as a sign of respect, an apology or a symbol of gratitude and for celebrations. It can also be associated with literature, philosophy and art as well as being closely connected with Taoism and Buddhism. Arcana invites you to think of tea drinking and ceremonies as a way of life, to explore this ancient tradition and the complex meanings behind it with us.

THE JAPANESE

The Way of Tea is a practice and art that developed in the 15th and 16th centuries in close conjunction with Zen. The principles set forward for this practice are — harmony (和, wa), respect (敬, kei), purity (清, sei), and tranquility (寂, jaku). The use of Japanese tea developed as a "transformative practice", and began to evolve its own aesthetic, in particular that of "sabi" and "wabi" principles. This Japanese term means “a way of living that focuses on finding beauty within the imperfections of life and accepting peacefully the natural cycle of growth and decay.”

HERBAL INFUSIONS

Herbal infusions can be made using many different ingredients, including tree bark, flowers, leaves, roots, spices, seeds, and fruit. Drinking these teas dates back as far as the third century AD and spreads from China to Egypt to Japan, and then to Europe and beyond. Many health benefits, taste, aroma and no caffeine are some of the great reasons to try herbal infusions.
